Rescheduled due to Hurricane Matthew last October, Lindsey and Chris turned a hitch that could have ruined their plans into something fun and colorful. The bride’s main goal for her wedding day was to make sure guests were relaxed and enjoyed themselves. With a dreamy reception under cafe lights and colorful pops of coral, it’s safe to say Duvall Events created the perfect atmosphere. We captured the day as guests sipped on “hurricane” cocktails as the sun set on The Island House. I don’t know about you, but I think this wedding is the definition of turning a rainy day into a rainbow.
1) How was your wedding perfectly "Southern"?
We like to think that we captured the relaxed, light-hearted feeling that you get when you drive south of the Mason-Dixon line during our wedding. We had guests fly in from all over the country and world - literally, one of the bridesmaids flew in from Kenya! - and we really wanted to let everyone enjoy the beautiful landscape, temperature, food, and drinks that come with it. With a picturesque sunset, dolphins swimming by in the river, good music and even better company, we captured all of the best aspects of being down south with the ones you love.
2) What was your vision for your wedding day? What made you choose certain colors or decor?
My number one goal was just to make sure everyone had a great time with a relaxed atmosphere and a dreamy setting under the cafe lights and dressed up tent. By the looks of the pictures, the stories we heard afterwards, and the sore cheeks we all had the next day, I think we nailed it! With a spring wedding, we were so excited to get to choose a vibrant coral color and work to add in vibrant pastels and fresh greens and a touch of sparkle with our gold accents. Plus, it doesn't hurt that we could relate the coral back to our mutual love of Clemson!
3) What is the moment you remember most about your wedding day?
As a couple that originally was set to marry the weekend that Hurricane Matthew hit Charleston, we were so nervous for our rescheduled day and the variable weather that comes in the Spring in Charleston. There was thunder and lightening and pouring rain at our rehearsal, but by the grace of God we had the most picturesque day and the most AMAZING sunset. I took a mental snapshot of the second that Chris and I started our first dance, looking over his shoulder at the unbelievable sunset in the distance. We waited 2 days shy of two years for our perfect day, and it was absolutely worth the wait!
4) What's next for you and your husband?
We can't wait to travel! We're heading to St. Lucia in December for our honeymoon, and hope to get in a few more trips before we decide to settle down and have a family.
